According to a Canada Life Group Insurance study, people who work in open-plan offices say they have a lower level of health at work compared to those working at home.
The insurance group asked employees to grade how easy it is to be healthy in their working environment. Open-plan offices were marked 6.1/10, when home received 8.1/10.
This subjective data is confirmed by an objective one: the level of sick days.
People who work in open plan offices took over 70% more sick days than those working at home. While the average of sick days taken by employees working from home is 1.8 a year, people working in open plan offices take in average 3.1 days.
Some food for thought if you do not believe working environment has an impact on health issues!
